Best Joystick
#1

I want to replace my MS Sidewinder F feedback joystick because some buttons are not working anymore
I would like to have some suggestions by the community about which one to buy
I really like the FFeedback effect , so I would like suggestions with and without FFeedback, and with or without a separate throttle lever
Thanks

A lot of it comes down to how much you want to spend.

The best out there for quality and longevity has to be the Thrustmaster Cougar. The new Thrustmaster HOTAS Warthog will soon be available and has dual throttle controls (4.10m).
Pro's: All Metal construction. Excellent software for programming. Expandable beyond listed capabilities thru the use of logic code. Lot's of mods available to enhance the stick.
Con's: Due to the POTs used in their construction, you will either need to become very good at cleaning them, or replacing them every year or so.

*** Halls Effect Sensor kits and a gimbal reinforcement kit can be purchased for the stick making it virtually indestructible.

One of the best alternatives to the TM is the CH Products Flight Stick and Throttle. Good quality, but made of plastic rather than all metal like the TM's
Pro's: Excellent programming software. Very easy to setup. Excellent customer support.
Con's: Very weak springs (feels like wet spaghetti). Plastic construction.

Next would be the Saitek series. These are basically the budget basement sticks for customers on a budget.
Pro's: Inexpensive setup for players on a budget.
Con's: Programming software is extremely difficult to use. Plastic construction. Poor quality of wiring and parts. Very week springs.

Personally, I use a TM HOTAS Cougar and have had it now for almost 13yrs.

Hope this helps a bit.

I'd recommend logitech extreme 3D pro, 4 years of flying and spring is about 50% of the new one, but still keeps the stick centered. There is a force feedback model too.

I've had two sticks that I've flown with for the last two and a half years, the Hotas Cougar and the Saitek X52. Of the two I would go with the X52 because of the amount of buttons and knobs on the stick and throttle. So, I'd recommend the X52.

I'm using the Saitek ST290 Pro for 2 years now. Very satisfied with it and very cheap (+- 30 euros).

The Logitech Exstreme 3D Pro is cheap and I like it. Don't think that this one is inferior: I once shot down 10 planes in one mission, none of them rookies-mostly skilled and aces, with this joystick. I have used the same one with no repairs for 3 years.

3D Pro is very programable and very affordable.

If you have plenty of money, get a Saitek.

These are my humble opinions.

As Chuck Yeager once said, "It's the man, not the machine".
Just because you can shoot down 10 guys with a stick, doesn't make it AWESOME....

With that, the 3D Pro is a good entry level stick if you can't afford the best and need to get your flying fix on.

I have the saitek x52 and the cyborg force. I prefer the cyborg with the FFB.
Both are easily programmable, the x52 has alot if you want that sort of thing. I way prefer having the throttle on a separate unit, in fact the best things I have done for immersion would be : having rudder, throttle and stick all on their own unit.
Recently I have taken apart the cyborg and extended the stick length, this provided me a "wow" moment, and even a novice (like myself) can do this modification. In fact it is a lot of fun modifying your joystick, youll soon demystify alot once you open them up.
