Six day war mod request
#1

Today I had this thought: If there's a map of palestine region and if someone made some israeli fighters Like the nesher or early versions of kfir, it would be realy nice. I mean, six day war dogfights were all about canons and machineguns, with only few missile engagements. And these were with heat seeking missiles and there's already a sidewinder mod, the same could be done with the missiles used during this war. the planes that would be needed are:

Dassault MD.450 Ouragan (Hurricane)
Dassault Mirage III
Fouga CM.170 Magister
Hawker Hunter
IAI Kfir / F-21A
Ilyushin IL-28 (Beagle)
Mikoyan-Gurevich MiG-17 (Fresco) / Chengdu J-5
Mikoyan-Gurevich MiG-19 (Farmer)
Mikoyan-Gurevich MiG-21 (Fishbed)
Sud-Ouest SO 4050 Vautour
Sukhoi Su-7 (Fitter-A)
Tupolev Tu-16 (Badger)

I think this is all. None of them has complicated avionics and I think the game engine will suport all.

If anyone is interested and capable(which I'm not) Please start soon.

'All'?
Do you have the slightest idea just how much work goes into producing a new mod aircraft?

And can you provide a source for your statement about 'six day war dogfights'? This sounds unlikely to me.

Finally, 'Please start soon' is just plain rude.

have u looked around? and some aircraft can take years and most take more time to get off the wip board. This list is almost impossible to compleate in 3 years time or more. so my advice to you is sitback ad waight for the aircraft u like and help with info or DIY, its they best way to get things done how u like it. I would like a F-4 but no 1 is going to make it and im to busy, so il just sit back and hope, and apreashieate the FREE mods we get from the fantastic modders.

Oh please I'm sorry, i didn't mean to be rude! That's my poor english talking (i'm realy not a native speaker).Realy sorry about that. I wanted to say that if there's someone who thought my idea was plausible, I would be very happy about it. The "Please start soon" was intended to motivate. Not as an order, at all.

Again sorry.

About the dogfights: Most of "six day war" planes which used to carry missiles, carried just two of them. This fact contributed to turn the air combat from missile fights to gunfights.

And, for last, I didn't knew about the dificulty of mod making, at least I tought it was less complicated.Forgive my ignorance on that.As i said, I didn't mean to ofend anyone. And I realy like the mods available, and respect the people who makes them. I Just wanted to inspire people to do a cool thing. But as you said, I forgot to see the dificults in it for the others.Sorry.

I am not too up on my history of that region, but I did read of American volunteer pilots who flew for Israel after WW2 against Egypt, one of em being Chris Magee from VMF 214 (Blacksheep). He said they started out flying BF109s at first (which he made the comment, "bet ole Willy Messerschmit is rolling over in his grave knowing Jews were flying his birds " anyhow, I am working on a campaign for that era, if you find anything on the 6 day war, maybe I can tie it into mine, good luck and good hunting

Kfirs in the מלחמת ששת הימים? Never. In that time there was no weapon embargo against Israel yet, they used original Mirage IIICJ. And by the way, "F-21" is just the US designation for the fighter weapons aggressor A/Cs of that type.

Best regards - Mike

The plane in question was the Avia S199. Whilst this was a development of the 109G as such, it was built after WW2 with a different engine/propellor and other changes, it wasn't quite the same aeroplane, and its flying qualities were universally scorned.

The only thing I know is that a map of Palestine area is in the making by Kapteeni. A 1948 and 1956 version.

Actually Kapteeni has agreed to help with my Middle East map that covers from just north of Beirut, to about Alexandria then Damascus and all points in between. It's a huge undertaking. Lots of new textures and new objects required not to mention the lack of good historical reference for all the airfields and towns. Will have to make a lot of best guesses, especially in Syria since information from there is pretty much non-existent.

This is the map area:

Bury,

Did you guys discuss Redko's desert map textures. He is offering them as Open Source. I am sure that you have been following his topic, right?

Those will be good for certain areas but the map area has very diverse and some unique geography. Unfortunately there are not enough textures allowed to do it properly some some corners will have to be cut.
