Hello, folks, I intend to set up a new UP 2.01 install for the latest Histomod V2.1 available.
I have 2 versions of the same HSFX4.11 install currently in use. I rename folders to switch between installs.
Question gents: Is the recommended way to setup new installs to save all IL-2 1946 installs by renaming their folders and
then uninstall + reinstall IL-2 1946+ desired mods?
Does this cause registry issues between my latest AND my older installs when switching later?
That's it, hope it wasn't asked 200 times before, a little short on time ATM..
Thanks for all answers!
Cheers

PS: Of course I meant renaming and saving at a save place before deleting. My concern is if the older installs will remain functional after installing a new IL-2 add-on version like UP.
Base for all versions I use is the IL-2 1946 DVD version + 4.08 and 4.09 patches..
Cheers!

Tom,
What I normally do is this....
Install the base game and apply all patches (4.09m vanilla).
Rename this to IL-2 1946 Baseline.
Next make two new directories (In my case IL-2 1946 HSFX and IL-2 1946 UP)
COPY all the files from the baseline directory into the HSFX and UP directories.
Next apply the appropriate mods to the 2 new directories.
Finally, navigate to the HSFX and UP directories (1 at a time) and create a shortcut on your desktop to the new IL-2 FB.exe's in each.
This will give you 3 installs of the game, each with it's own shortcut and each running independently of the others.
Windows will still have reference to the old one in the registry, but it won't matter. Just ensure that you point mod pack installs to the appropriate version on your system that you are installing them for.

Thanks a lot, {HVY-E}Jinxx..that sounds logical.
I think I try your method, only that I copy my HSFX4.11 files completely in the 3rd new installed/copied basic folder and let them overwrite. If I had to loose my current HSFX4.11 install with all mods and files, I would rather not do a new install, this special one took me months to get it at its current state..
I was lucky, my last trick worked and I'll have most of Histomod V2.1 in HSFX now...except new weapons and carrier goodies, it seems..but basically, the files designed for UP seem to be incompatible with HSFX. So another install makes sense nevertheless.
