I love the overall aspect, a sober looking map... I saw some sort of tiling of the river texture which is a bit disturbing.
Also towns and some of the villages look to me a bit underpopulated (maybe add a bit more treeline in those villages) but that feeling greatly varies from user to user anyway

Anyway nice!

Something strange happened to the campaign missions I had built on this map. I had just "transformed" the map_c with map tools which made the coastline look better for Excellent settings...
But then I noticed in my campaign missions that the Frontline markers had disappeared.

I hope this is just a glitch in my own computer and this does not affect anyone else who has already built missions.
I want to apologize in advance if it is a problem for anyone else. I guess this is why people want to wait until the final map version is finished before making missions.

Sorry Karabas-Barabas, but not for this map. A new map will have to be started to include the area further north.

For this map, I purposely made the north boundary just south of Armavir and Stavropol. There has to be a border somewhere and I feel that the north boundary is a good stopping place. I also did not include the city of Grozny and the city of Tbilisi. I did not include these larger cities because at the time that this map was started I did not know how to easily populate cities with objects.

So, for the sake of making the map easier to populate, I asked Farang to cut the satellite data and make the map's borders as it is now. Farang did an excellent job with the borders -- just as I had asked him to do -- without his SRTM data this map would have never got started.

In my opinion, the more northern area you requested should be in a seperate map, perhaps to include all the area up to the Manych River or Rostov na Don. This way the Russian 1942 retreat and 1943 counteroffensive could be covered.
It would be nice if someone could map that area but I have no plans to do it. I am taking a break from map-making and I don't know if I'll ever make another one again...but who knows what's in my future!

In closing, K-B, I hope you like this map as it is. It's kind of like the Moscow map not having Moscow city. We always wish for more but there are limits sometimes.
Have fun flying!

Yes, in USA, if you are white then you are Caucasian race. It's done to identify people by the color of their skin. I'm pretty sure the term Caucasian derives from the Caucasus mountains which divide Europe from Asia. People north of the barrier are white and "caucasian." I sometimes have to describe to unknowledgeable people where the Caucasus is located on a map and I also tell them that's where the term caucasian comes from. I also have to tell them the difference between Chechnya and Czech Republic. :Smile)
