Watch the full program The Polish Battle of Britain online at the SBS website http://player.sbs.com.au/programs#/progr...n-Full-Ep/. It should be up for at least 3 to 4 weeks from the day of broadcast (5/11/10 Aussie time).
Its an excellent program based on 303 squadrons diary, and contains extensive historical BoB footage together with top quality reenactments. The story of 303 squadron is moving and inspiring, and the final act of betrayal by Britain to appease Stalin is unconscionable. (But not as bad as what the Poms did to the Cossacks in 1945)
In respect of their combat success, the documentary makes the point - as does Stephen Bungay in his masterful book "The Most Dangerous Enemy" - it was achieved by disregarding the outdated and hopeless British fighter tactics in favour of their own based on combat experience, as did other successful RAF aces at the time.
A very good movie on a similar theme is the Czech movie "Dark Blue World" (2001), about Czech pilots in the RAF from the BoB to 1945. Well worth seeing.
