No AA/Tearing in cockpit caused by user setup
#1

It appears that there is no anti-aliasing and "tearing" in my cockpit.....New setup with SLI +latest driver..I started noticing some tearing/jaggies in the cockpit.

EDIT: This post has been updated. In my frenzied haste to optimize and tweak I switched antialiasing mode from "Application Controlled" to "Override Application"

Switching antialiasing mode from "Override Application" to " enhance the application setting" did the trick

This setting (although obviously gets more frame rates) affects your AA. I hope we all learned something...

(Just learning this Inspector stuff)

You should keep vsync on

That helps a lot Tongue

Yes sir...I have vsync forcred on; Im willing to try anything/everything and thought Id give triple buffering/vsync off a go at not working Tongue waa.

Hmmm....maybe its not trackir. Seems to be doing it without trackir.

EDIT: Problem solved.

Well, unbelievably, horizontal tearing is back....what the flip...

It only seems to happen with IL2 too..this is driving me insane;

(the main suspect/change is my video card...285 to 460SLI. Im testing with 1 460.

what could possibly be causing this?

Fixed again: Reseated my SLI bridge and switched the dvi monitor cord over...problem gone again...for now

iv had some FPS issues lately, iv fixed most of them but i have a GTX 460 1GB. the one i cant seem to get to go away is the lagging in cockpits when im using the mouse and looking around. it seems like a driver issue cause it doesnt affect the fps cause it only laggs when im looking around. im using 260.99 drivers. iv heard some drivers are buggy forv this card. do you guys know any other drivers i should try?

Yeah, after a week of testing I dont seem to be getting anywhere that I'm totally happy with. . 460 1BG or with SLI

I was able unlock SLI and really get the FPS going in the 100s, however I think it caused cockpit tearing....I assume bc of the screen refresh rate being 60hz???

I say that because when I changed settings and my fps are capped at 60fps the tearing goes away, however then I get flickering effects/smoke in SLI

So I switch to "force single gpu" and the shadow flickering go away....(or windowed mode which is not acceptable)

After a week of testing and tweaking, I have 1 460 gtx (forced single gpu) getting 25-60 fps on tc_hawaii map with no flickering or tearing. im using 260.99 drivers too. I guess Ill wait for a new driver..I dont have the patience to back and try an old one at this point...

yeah here too....but I think my 285gtx had the same driver...

Ill fly at 15 fps right now just so i dont see that damned tearing

15 fps would drive me insane. tearing doesnt bother me to bad haha. hopefully new drivers will fix the cockpit lag.

re:15fps

Zha,I was just being a little dramatic...Im happy now with a solid 60fps with no flickering/and or tearing. That was driving me crazy....I have the sort of personality where I cant rest until I fix the problem.

yea same here.
i guess im OCD.
i have always ran with Vsync on.and i never go above 60FPS

Use Triple Buffer only with Vertical Sync ON - it was designed for that. In APIs through DirectX 10, this feature only worked in OpenGL, though we might see it in later DirectX APIs.

You could try a Quatro driver . 265.90-Quadro-win7-winvista-64bit-international.

As by default these quatro drivers wont work with your vga, but you canuse a modified nv_disp.inf which lets you use these drivers which are much bug free than forceware ones. Just give them a try.

nv_disp.inf modified so that all nvidia cards can use 265.90-Quadro-win7-winvista-64bit driver

Instructions:
Download the driver
Decompress it to a folder
Just replace the inf in the Display.Driver folder
Now execute the setup.exe

In my case, I have a gtx 280 and now with this driver I get smooth fps. Just give it a try
