Shouldn't it be, "...owed by so many to SO few."?

Your right, it should. I should know, I've got the poster up behind me.

Maybe someone should mention that error to 1C or they might be embarrassed later.

I don't have an account over there, Madcat does, if you posted us the information. Well maybe they'll spot it them selves and will edit it.

I was reading at SAS that this is some sort of Hoax, or...

That the Developers working with Maddox are threatning to cut funding to the sim if he doesn't put something on the shelves soon, apparently it doesn't even have a luftwaffe campagin yet and would be a possible, "pay" add on later...

And what is with the name change???

Its not a hoax and I don't know what the deal is between UBI and Oleg Maddox, but I do know Oleg was trying to get the military interest in the sim at one point! As for a Luftwaffe campaign yes there will be one as I all ready point out what Luthier said on the C1 forums. (If you don't know who luthier is then I think I'm right in say hes the guy helped get IL2; Pacific Fighters off the ground as well as working on other projects with Oleg)
luthier Wrote:There is a full German campaign. Please calm down. The announcement is just a little incomplete.

Sorry about the confusion!

As for the name change I don't know but Oleg was talking openly on the C1 Forums not long ago about the name and should they change it ect... He did say some thing about them using his name but he didn't like the idea, so I'm guessing that UBI where a bit worried that people would be a bit sceptical about this new sim on the market, but put IL-2 Sturmovik in the name and there realise that its part of a long running series of good flight sims. In other words its a load of marketing crap.

Any way looks like UBI got the message and has updated the official page;

I'm noturally inclined to pessimism, however I would just like to say (and mock me all you want....) having viewed: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MO35o8IRD...r_embedded three things that stick out:

1) Too few flyable aircraft
2) Bf 109E-3 as the German aircraft of choice (which is wrong beyond July) v. apparent Spit Mk II (which is fine, just imbalanced)
3) flame effects and damage transition worse than the vanilla Il2

These are but three issues I have with having had to wait so long for this. Then there is the whole DRM possibility/[probability], actual release dates for anywhere but Europe (hello, Australia!!! - oh and, when I pre-order I'm gunna need to know IF MY RIG CAN RUN IT!!!) to say nothing of the lead time and generalities of updates that have been going on for the last "two weeks".

I'm not saying that this doesn't look good, but the way this whole project has been managed and presented has left a bad taste. I would rather keep supporting Il2:1946 and the modders within that community than rush out and put money in the pockets of a developer that treated its fanbase as play things.

I just really hope CoD or SoW or Who-knows-What doesn't end up being a con job. Too many people have spent too long (and too many pre-orders over the years) and too much money on new rigs in the vein hope of this game ever actually seeing the light of day for it too be anything but fantastic. I just hope the shiney new toy keeps its appeal beyond the accentuated hype of half a dozen years.

Ithink you have to configure your browser through an anonymous European proxy server then access the pre-order site in first page.

Right, not a bad idea!

But I'm still not sure about all this:
A squadmate of mine posted this addy in our forums:
http://www.amazon.de/IL-2-Sturmovic-Cli ... 069&sr=1-2

Seems to be some kind of mis-spelling..."Sturmovic" ?!
Strangely enough there's no such thing as "Il-2 Sturmovik:Cliffs Of Dover", or anything similar listed at amazon.co.uk,
except for this FSX update:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/s/ref=nb_sb_nos ... &x=17&y=21 .

So what is this? A major publisher like UBI doesn't go big time and put out the word to the major salesmen?

Collector's ed. or "Vanilla" box, I'll keep my feet and wallet tight and wait... :-?
