After COD...What then
#1

Salute

I was just wondering if IL2 will suffer the same fate as our old beloved RB3D after COD gets going. Will there still be Squads flying coops with Il2 ? How many of us are going to be left behind because we cant see the point of forking out 700 € to play games when the kids need shoes etc..

any thoughts?

It will probably be a while before CoD over takes the IL2 Community fully...RB3D had gone as far as the game could possibly go.

IL2 still is exploring its furthest reaches...The Game engine has proven far more versatile than it was originally believed to be.

Il-2 will never die, at least I hope so.

Even though the COD is coming I think I will stick with Il-2.

Well when CK comes out my bet is that it'll become the new Il-2 and last for many year, hopefully the same with CoD, and as for Il-2, even when the Mods stop coming she'll still have a special place in my heart :Smile)

One thing at a time...let's just see when we can hold CoD in our hot little hands & it works! Confusedhock:

Me too. Just too much hype about COD/SOW with only a few updated graphics and perhaps FM. The chance is little it will impress me with just one (big) map and a handful of aircraft. In the meantime, when they promised SOW (a few years ago), modded IL2 has become better and better, and i think it will still improve.

Sorry to say this but it will die just like any other game.
COD/SOW is on a higher level of detail for objects and for FM's, problem is that Oleg restarted his cicle of milk-the-cow and you *just* another 8 years or so to get to the level of content of IL2 1946. :-?
If COD/SOW is to be open to modding then frakenplanes and other frakenthings will not be enough.

I sort of agree with RedChico, what I mean is - There are only so many planes and mission available to the Battle of Britain so it might die early Sad

Yes some modding tools and other SOW software will be released to small groups of 3rd party modders like SAS, Ultrapack etc AFAIK for which new content can be added such as objects and the like, perhaps eventually planes, so yes IL-2 will die eventually but it has over 300 Aircraft, so I doubt it is any time soon...

The word was (AFAIK) public release of the modding tools.
Then again, if those tools are proper, you'll see in a jiffy 300 airplanes done.

You bet, services like that are not good for the customers.
A simple service like Gamersgate is more than enough.
