IL-2 CoD searchlights
#1

i have just had a thought in game of putting down searchlights for a blitz raid. as you all know searchlights in IL-2 1946 only come on at a certain time, this is what i thought would be the case for CoD. but for some reason i put the time at 0:00 but the searchlights fail to come on. does anyone know how to turn them on!

any help would be very much apretiated

Hi Adam, In Il-2 Sturmovik 1946 the searchlights came on when an enemy aircraft was near. This is also the case in CoD.

hey guys i posted this question on 1c forums and this was the answer

Quote:to make work a searshlight you have to do that!

1. put an AI antiaircraft object (not sure of name i play in frensh) and define an radius (100m per exemple)

2. in the properties of the AI objeect choose start up.CPP

3. put a generator inside the radius of AI object (static ---> environnement ---> generator)

4. link the AI object to the generator by the button set to... (you will see a yellow line linking the generator and the AI object.

5. put a searchlight near the generator. (don't forget to put the generator and searchlight in the radius of AI object)

it is done... now when a plane fly in the area the searschlight will work. and if the generator is destroy...the search light will stop working.

one more thing... apparently there are more powerfull generator an less powerfull one.. IMO you can put severall searchlight to one generator. but if the generator is not full enough it can't make work all the searshlight.

sounds like an awfully complicated way to get searchlights working

here are some screens

these screens are of a british AA and searchlight crew being bombarded by around 30 jerry bombers

Actually that way sounds like a very good way to me
Sounds very real like working off the near by generator.

i agree with being very realistic but its an awfully complicated way to do things and if you didnt know how to do it theres no instruxtions in the manual to help you find out

But it does make the game that little bit more realistic.

And these are the kind of things that one could make a manual for
As the game manual like you say dont have the instruxtions for, IL2
Was the same way at the start and many users made user manual on
Many things in IL2.

That would be a good idea 8)
