If you go by the luftwaffe version of events, then you do get a longer time-frameActually according to many books on the Battle of Britain it is clear there was no real start date, since the first aircraft shot down was a bomber in the Forth of Firth in about April time ( sorry I don't have the book readily available at the moment ), and then there were still raids going into November although smaller scale nuisance raids.
