O.K., Long story, short version: I downloaded a zip file, and when I double-clicked it, my PC shut down, and would not reboot. I tried Wondows restore, norton's restore, (by booting off of the Norton's disc) and no luck. I formated, and re-installed windows 7. My PC is still acting odd, but is working. The main problem after all this is that when I try to install HSFX 5.0 from a jump-drive back-up, my PC hangs, and the installer stops responding. Everything stops while installing the HSFX3DO5.sfs file. Am I gonna have to re-download the whole thing again? Or is there a way to fix this? Thanks for any replies in advance.

What kind of a zip file is it? Seems like a hardware issue to me tho.
Did you have any external drives on which could have got infected in case of virus?

Just and idea.
When you down load HSFX or UP and after install and all works.
BURN the download to disk.
That way if ever needed you have it.
Disk are cheap.

You thoroughly examine your pc.
Here is the guide of {HVY-E}Jinxx:
How to remove Malware, Spyware and Viri from your system.
Have you started windows in "Safe Mode"?
Planemad
Planemad, are you asking if I have started up in safe mode after the re-formating? If so, then no I haven't, but I'm not sure what I would do once I did. :-?

That way you can see if the Windows core is working correctly and there are no malfunctioning drivers.

Joker,
There is a lot of information that I'll need to get from you before I can give you an intelligent answer on this.
Your problem is one of those things that is a lot easier to work with if the computer is sitting right in front of me.
Trying to fix problems like this over the net can be very time consuming and troublesome.
PM me if you still haven't got it working and I'll see what I can do to help.
I'm getting ready to leave for work tonight, but I'll check back in when I have a moment.
Here is what I need to know for starts......
1. What was the name of the file you tried to install that you think killed your system?
2. Did you re-format your system or just do a system restore?
3. When your system boots up, what processes are running?
4. Are you currently using that system to contact us now or on another system.
This is sounding a lot like a virus that sets up a rootkit in the boot sector of the hard drive.
If it is, you're looking at a TOTAL reformat of the hard disk in order to get rid of this little nasty.
You'll have to do a full format and not just a quick format.
Let's start with the four questions first and then go from there.
