An Add-On for Il-2 1956 by the Aviator Mod Team, SAS Modding Community and Friends



Finally after years of development we are proud to present the MiG-21PF/PFM/FL package to the Il-2 community. It was begun in approximately 2009 by Sani and CsoCso as a protest to the commonly held belief that modern jets could never be simulated in Il-2. Boy were those guys wrong! With the advent of the Jet Era project, I joined the team to assist in combining the features of both packs. Around this time, Sani retired from modding and the MiG-21 project was placed temporarily on hold. Following the release of the Jet Era v1.1, it was revived again with CsoCso actively working on the 3D, Lisek developing some new ordnance, Lt Wolf on the flight models and myself on the code. At this point, community hype was at breaking point and the team quickly tired out from the excessive demands. With increasing commitments on this site and in real life, all of the team split up for a while and progress slowed. We set prospective release dates but we kept on missing them.

Last year though, we had fresh blood injected into the team. CsoCso stepped down, burnt out from the drawn out development process and handed on his work to S3 and Wasted (he still remained on the team as an advisor). They both took it in their stride to bring the 3D and skin work up to scratch respectively. Not only that, they both went on to finish the pre-alpha cockpit and make it fully functional. 4S_Vega, fresh from his experience with modelling the flight models for the F-4 series turned his talents to the MiGs. Wasted assisted with this process and was fortunate enough to have the FMs tested by former Eastern Bloc MiG-21 pilots. In the meantime, RedFox had made some new ordnance and I was well into coding the advance features of the SAS Engine Mod. I used the MiG-21s as a test bed and finally achieved what we have dreamed.

The aim was to be out for Easter this year but due to real life commitments delaying the release of JetWar v1.3 and SAS Engine Mod v2.6, it was missed. Now the pack is done and it has far exceed our expectations. We have literally spent thousands of researching and developing this aircraft mod. There is always more we could have done (e.g. animated the radar scope, added in warning lights, made a new animated mesh for the parachute etc.) but we are very proud of our efforts. This is, to date, the most advanced jet aircraft to ever see the light of day in Il-2 and hope it will provide you with thousands of hours of enjoyment

I must give a huge thanks to everyone who was involved in the project. Without you, these aircraft would have never been released and would have just been another 'wunderwaffel WIP'.

- Three unique MiG-21 models: PF, PFM and FL
- Complete historic loadouts with new range of ordnance

Version 1.0 Change Log:
- Initial release
- LODs are currently not optimized and will be completed in a future update. However the current LODs should not cause a significant impact on performance
- Further details will be added to default skins in future to further differentiate each variant
- Some minor cockpit glitches remain
- Radar screen is not currently animated
- The drag chute mesh is currently based on the default parachute mesh. This will be remedied in a future update

Requirements:
You MUST be running at least 4.101m with SAS Modact 3.06 or later, OR DBW 1.71 OR 4.11.1m with SAS ModAct 4 OR HSFX6.
You MUST be running Il-2 1956 The Jet Era v1.3 or later.
You MUST be using Buttons Version 10.1 or later.
You MUST be running the SAS Engine mod. Otherwise this pack will NOT work.

PLEASE NOTE:
- This pack may run with Jet Era v1.2 and older versions of SAS Engine Mod (then known as SAS AI, Engines, Carriers and Hotkeys mod)
- BUT by doing so, you might encounter some errors. In addition many of the features of this pack may not work as intended.
- Do so at your own risk!
- It WILL NOT run with older versions of JetWar.

I understand that you feel GJ gave you the nasty... and he did cause that's how GJ operates, nasty as hell. but it was ALL done to you with Anto's direct and complete knowledge, agreement, approval and blessing. he (Anto) was completely aware of what GJ did to you (and does to everyone) and he just didn't give a flip. he never has, and worse, he never will.

he (Anto), like many of the SAS treehouse members really and truly believe that they are God's gift to IL2 modding. they feel above the law, above common decency, above anyone 'not' in their cult. they somehow actually feel that THEY own the game of IL2. and that no one besides themselves has the right to mod the game without their express consent. ---this is a hold-over from CirX days as that was his general operating attitude/religion.

so yes, GJE did you an incredibly bad wrong as he has done wrong to many, many others, but he did so knowing that ...as far as Anto and the others over there were concerned... it was A-OKAY to do.

so looking at it that way, though I don't condone what you did... I can CLEARLY understand it. after all, me and several other FM guys STILL have mods over there where the SAS have changed our download links to their own and even removed or changed (or even hid) our credits for our own work.

it was very interesting to see Anto squeal like a pig and spew so high and mighty when he got back just a tiny bit of the SAME THING he's been dishing out over there for a long time now.
