IL-2 community - a code of conduct needed
#48

All I'm gonna say, is you can't please all the people all the time.

Even with an "Anti-cheat" statement of intent, a lot of the anti-modders will howl.. as 334th_Prince_BK illustrates. Not intending to single you out, Prince, you are just a handy example.

IL2 is only dead, if you delete it off of your hsrd-drive. AFAIK, the old girl still has plenty of life left in her, modded and unmodded, online, and offline. At least for me.

AAA wasn't the first to go public. They are now, however, the most prominent at this time.

I too, have been around since the beginnings of IL2, using the sim when and where opportunity presented itself around my real-life schedule. Gone are the heady days of the Hyperlobby's IL2 channel being populated with 1,000+ onliners at once.. the numbers had been dwindling long before rumours of 'cheating' or 'modding' began surfacing a year ago or so. This is the life-cycle of online games - IL2 had a run that is/was longer than most. Modding isn't responsible for the reduced numbers by any large factor.

All AAA did was prove that if there is a demand, they will come, both onliners and offliners with an open mind to try the new mods.

Cheating was occuring before the mods went public, with or without a statement of intent, they'll continue to be used by a small minority that can't and won't be stopped by philisophical statements.

Moaning about AAA encouraging people to further hack IL2 is moot.. it'll happen whether AAA is around or not.

Sorry about the anti-mods unhappyness with the present state of affairs, but that is life... virtually, or reality based. If you can't or won't accept or adapt to the present reality, well.. sorry to see you go. S!

JMHO..
