Wow, this is interesting. Apparently I didn't like the mig-3U cockpit so I didn't fly the 2xUB and 2xShVAK versions. The articles I read indicated that the twin gun setups were the norm on some production runs and the aircraft were otherwise standard Mig-3s.
So, I had never noticed the second glass plate in the cockpit until you pointed it out to me. That said using the Mig-3 cockpit is more accurate (if you look at the way the fuselage is cut pre-Mig-3U migs had slightly worse downward visibility). If I get time I may try modifying the cockpit internals but I suspect there is a bit of a learning curve.
So, this mode only increase accuracy by something like 60%... and I certainly feel like the fool in this affair.
