Example; this is from page 52 of the b-17 operating manual
"W. If the fire is not smothered by closing the cowlflaps, close fuel shut-off valve (figure 39-3), stop booster pump, and direct copilot to pull fire extinguisher, both charges if necessary."
the b-24's are also on the copilots side
page 31 and 33 of b-29 pilots manual has fire extinguisher description and usage
