I wonder if it would be possible to place the gunsight outside the cockpit just in front of the armour glass? Might be difficult I suppose...

IMO also the cockpit from, say, the 109G6/AS (with Erla Haube) would be a better choice for this aircraft. The 110 'pit never seems right to me due to the lack of a rear bulkhead hock:
