I really like the Carrier idea, I'd be the first one to download it if it's ever created.
I'm not a fan of the tail hook idea though. I don't think it's a matter of people complaining as much as a matter of being possible. In 4.05 it would be no problem (adding a tail hook) , but my understanding is that 4.08 is encrypted in such a manner as to make changes like that next to impossible.
