As I understand it, even if a model were created in 3D Studio Max (and you need the right version for IL2 - I think it was 3.5 or 4) it would be useless without a means of importing it into the game's 3D engine. Oleg probably does this with a proprietary tool ie a piece of code written by his guys to convert the Max files into a format understood by IL2. What that format is, I have no idea.
It might be an in-house one created by Maddox Games (.mad files?) or it might be a well known one. If it's a Maddox special then it might require a bit of reverse engineering to work out what's going on. From there I'm out of my depth - it can be done but it needs a coding guru to sort things out. :wink:
