I think they are designed to sit on top of another object.
While I find some of the new scenery in various new maps interesting, it amazes me the choices made in terms of time spent. Make a hugely complex castle, that can only really be used in one spot, or make somethign we have needed since day one, a long row of trees (on the dark side) that are as tall as the layered forests.
Or even a clear rectangle with a picture of trees on it (a side view version of "layered forests.").
For someone capable of making a castle, the latter must be trivial, yet they don't do it. They make german and russian labeled fuel carts, then make a 3d clone with beer in it, but don't make an unlabeled version, lol.
