Had the day off today so spent the morning working on the Vc problem.
Initially I tried to solve the problem of using the Seafire pit. When you look at the wings of your aircraft from inside the cockpit, what your seeing is the wings from the external model. This is not the case for the Seafire. The Seafire's cockpit, like the Vc is mounted high above the plane. To make it appear to be in the correct spot, they've added a new set of wings and nose to the cockpit view (just like new instruments) which cover up the actual wings and nose. The cockpit Veltro posted with the green wings/nose is the Seafire pit. As the Vc model is lacking the extra textures for the cockpit-view wings/nose, they just show up as green. If you remove these wings/nose, you can see the originals but end up with the cockpit floating high above the plane again...
So back to the Vb pit with its two problems...
1. The black spot on the mirror
2. The incorrect cockpit armoured glass
First I looked at the mirror. It turns out the black spot you can see is the Vc's mirror on the external model. By moving the internal mirror down the plane, you can move it past the external models mirror and get a clear view.
The lines on the bottom edges of the mirror is the rim of the external models mirror. Unfortunately, if I move the mirror backwards any further, its no longer connected to the cockpit and appears to be floating in space.
On the second problem, I found that the armoured glass is set by a file called Body.msh which is found in the cockpit folder of a plane. The Vb's body.msh shows the external armoured glass. The Seafires shows the internal armoured glass but includes the fake nose.
Vc featuring Vb cockpit but with Seafire body.msh with its fake nose
What we need is the IX's body.msh which has the internal armoured glass but no fake nose. Does anyone know where I can find this?
All credit goes to Veltro for working out how to add Vc cockpit files...
The revised version with round mirrors can be downloaded from here. If you have trouble, please try again. If this fails, PM me your email address and I'll email it to you (2meg file)
