The samples in the sound mods are from various sources, you can see the results. But if you got SoundForge its not too hard to fix them.
They should be 44100khz or 22100Khz but not lower, mono, without clipping
if you get a distorted engine sound you need to lower volume a bit in the wav.
In the preset files, the settings which work for me are:
occlusion -9
obstruction -7 (not -200 or 400)
[spl] 100 (for engines)
[spl] 120 (for guns)
I'm correcting every day something on the sounds, if I'm finished I'll publish it for testing.
I must admitt that I'm not very familiar with sound engineering, I learn by the 'trial end error' method
