Is your firewall blocking? I noticed when I put in the sound mod my firewall asked if il2fb.exe can connect to the internet. When I put in the switcher, and switched the sounds off , my firewall again asked if il2fb.exe could connect to the internet. And when I switched back to the sound mod, same thing. This could be your problem.

Try turning off your firewall and see what happens.
