FWIW: be advised that the Hercules engine of the Beaufighter produced a minimum 500 HP more than the Taurus engine of the Beaufort. This 1,000 HP or more would obviously affect the FM if trying to 'hack' the Beaufighter into the Beaufort.
Quote from "Beaufighter At War"; Chaz Bowyer; Ian Allan Ltd, London: 1976 -- 'The Beaufort I with two 1,010 hp Taurus engines was a hopelessly underpowered aeroplane, incapable of maintaining a straight and level flight on one engine'.
The Beaufighter MkIIF had two RR Merlin XX, of 1,280 hp each.
By comparison, the Mk VIF had two Bristol Hercules VI engines, of 1,670 hp each.
