Is there any way to make the little puff-balls of smoke from damaged ships appear as continuous (but perhaps light) plumes of smoke, or remove them completely?

Has anyone figured out how to remove LOL_Rone's little black puff-balls yet? They don't look right at all I've tried removing certain elements I thought might change this with no luck. I guess I'll have to continue remove possibilities until it finally disappears, any help would be greatly appreciated :wink: They seem slightly more pronounced on my PC than in this image.
