I don't want to divert any attention away from "The Slot," but while slightly OT, there is a really good south Pacific game from Matrixgames.com called Uncommon Valor. They've done a lot of research on the topic of ships serving in that theater, squadrons, units, pilots, etc. The level of detail is amazing.

I will probably base a few missions off of their scenarios with the use of The Slot map.
