IMHO Oleg made the pilot jump through the "hyperspace" in the first sequence because otherwise the pilot will always distroy te plane due to limitations in the engine. To do what original poster said would mean to actualy animate the jump sequence which I think is imposible ATM. Remember what the bailed pilot does when you jump out on the ground on the airfield if a building or another plane is on the trajectory of the pilot... he jumps away from the obstacle very ridiculously... I think that would be mximum that could be done in this respect, there is no real phiscs effect in this zone most likely.
What we need first would be:
-maintaining 1st view wile jumping out as Bee said and only do external if F2 is pressed.
-parashute opening only after a second comand (Ctr+E, I have Alt+Space actually as is more reliable )
-removing the death of player after low opening of shute... heavily wounded should be maximum imho... let's try to think we are very lucky .
