I would love something like this too....not to say I would use it all the time, but having the option...is what all these mods are about.

It was not released at all AFAIK. Kegetys, a guy from Finland, hacked the game two or three years ago and made such mods as 6DOF for TrackIR, many fixed cameras on airplanes and the walking pilot mod, maybe more. At the time he didn't want to share that hack, because everyone could've made cheats with that. He said that he wanted to release it when more secure versions of the game (like 4.07 was) came along, but that never materialized.
And as i stated earlier, i'd like to have this too. But it seems that a reasonable amount of programming would be involved. So unless someone who is good with Java wants to do this mod, i don't see a chance of it being released.

All the cockpit stuff adding of cockpits and animation is done is basically done in java and stuff by mr Jolly. He does most of the java work here as far as i know. There has also been a big discussion about this mod before it's not the first... Also even if it doesn't serve a purpose online and if it does offline doesn't mean you can't make this mod... That has nothing to do with it. Everyone has their own oppinion, whether you like it or not this is quite popular....
