Well, I got to thinking about this, and have kind of concluded, in my ignorance of modding, that the solution to the current glider problems will probably lie in tinkering with the FM, or something related. If so, this would mean adding a new aircraft slot for a modded glider, which can be done now.
So I downloaded all of QTim's tools, and started looking at them to try to get a handle on what they are and what they do. Certainly lots for me to learn and discover there!
Anyhow, one thing I did notice, is that there is a separate engine model for the towline!

Cool! Now all I have to do is figure out how to control this "engine".
