"I was looking round a Luftwaffe airfield scene a few nights ago, when suddenly I came across a line of parked 109s with numbers like 'yellow 66' and 'red 52'. It really destroys the illusion of reality for anyone conversant with Luftwaffe numbering systems (yes, there were occasions when such numbers were used, but usually on training aircraft).

Does anyone know how to replace these defaults with something more realistic? I would imagine there might be a problem making the numbering scheme (or lettering scheme) non-repetitive for a large sequence of static aircraft, but there might be different viable solutions for different nations."

This was exactly my problem - even though I am using mat manager, and it is working correctly, I would still get SOME static a/c with these huge "yellow 77" and "red 99" numbers, really bright and total immersion killers. This mod simply removed them. I still get the mat manager generated numbers, even on the statics, but the weird ones are gone.
