From my expirience with the 'black' it comes down to the fact that you are pushing your rig to the limit. You have 1 gb of memory, which in my opinion is too little. I had a 7900gtx & used to get this effect on heavy maps. I increased my memory to 4gb ( 3gb should be the max if your on xp),this solved the problem & i would only get this effect 'rarely' or 'once in a while' on very heavy maps. I also went through all the drivers......
I then got an 8800gt........all the problems solved, this is a miracle card. :wink:
So, if i where your friend i would either fly on lower settings or accept the fact that your going to have to slowly upgrade.
Maybe someone can advice you better, my knowledge is limited to what happened in my scenario.
