P-38 Thailand Mission
#1

P-38 Lightnings arrived at Chittagong, Burma in mid-1943 with the 459th
FS of the 80FG. Here they performed a variety of missions including
escort and ground attack. \nP-61 Black Widow night fighters arrived in
Burma in November 1944 with the 427th Night Fighter Squadron. Its sister
squadron in the 14th Air Force in China saw action against enemy planes
but the 427th never got the opportunity to test their guns against enemy
aircraft in Burma. However, they increasingly began to be used in the
ground attack role much like the B-25 gunships.
These missions are fictional and non-historical. The home base is at
Chiang Mai so that flying distances would not be too far. In real life the
missions would be several hours long from bases in northern Burma or
China to targets in southern Burma, Thailand, and China.
These missions were designed for the upcoming MOD of the P-61 Black
Widow. For now, the flyable plane is the P-38L- Late model so it's pretend
for the P-61. These types of missions were also flown by Beaufighters and
Mosquitos...just change the plane type in the Full Mission Builder.
