Balto Wrote:+1 with Boomer : this is a WW2 sim game , WAR game...and straffing and bombing humans was one of the tasks of airplanes during ww2.
Boomer Wrote:Because in the actual war straffing of enemy troops was always a support role of fighters for their own side, and still is today........realism i think is the idea here, however gruesm it may be. :?
If you clearly read what I wrote, you will understand what I am talking about... I am NOT saying anything about "actual war starfing", or about how strafing soilders was a "task" pilots had to do... Yes of course, it will stay that way...
I am discussing the changing of status or creating a new infantry object as a static.ini object...and how we should not explore this. Otherwise, from a "ground kill" standpoint, one could chalk up thousands of points just from strafing human soldiers all day, which may or may not have the equal value of say a tank or vehicle, and that, in turn would not be authentic in the campaign briefing screen we see after a sortie...
Again, to clarify, its not about being "historically" accurate in terms of human kills alone, its about whether or not you want to give the player actual points for killing soilders (static objects) in IL2...
And for the record, Pilots, in WWII, would brag about the 'Tiger' they knocked out or the 'column of trucks' they put in flames... and they would score and log that. They did not however, make any effort to log or track the amount of people they mowed to the ground... They may have made estimates in debreifing with their officers, but they did not mark it or paint it on their plane...
