Marine Corsair pilot 1st Lt. Wilbur J. Tomas of El Dorado, Kansas, who knocks down Jap planes in bunches flying his Corsair, became an ace recently when he added up a score of seven enemy planes shot to smithereens. On June 30, Lt. Thomas bagged four Zeros and on July 6, he tallied three more. His most recent kill came over Kolombangara Island as he and a wing man battled seven Jap twin engine bombers and a group of escorting Zeros.

America can be thankful for such an aerial battler as Capt. James H. Cupp who is a fighter plane pilot. This Leatherneck Corsair flier has been on combat duty in the Solomons for several months. And what a record he has established for himself! In only three days of air fighting, Capt. Cupp shot down five of Tojo's planes. That's the kind of stuff this Leatherneck brought from his home in Fairfield, Iowa.
