maybe it's not the oil cooler, but you know, that air intake under the chin of the Spit. Early Spit IXs had small ones like the MkVbs. the In game Spit IXs are equipped with the later, bigger versions...

I think U're right. It's not the oil cooler, cause that one was positioned under the left wing (as I recall it).
The oil cooler on earlier versions was round in shape and asymmetric positioned in comparison to the square intake under the right wing. Later on, the oil cooler were identical in shape and size with the intake under the right wing - correct me, if I'm wrong...
