rollnloop Wrote:It sure looks nice, but to me it's both not realistic and not practical.
-Not realistic: to me, the reflections one sees in the gunsight picture showed higher in the thread are due to use of flash by the photographer. In a dark environment, with big lights behind the camera, there is the same result, as seen in http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G7KvpWloagE . Though the sky does not look this way, when there is sun, there is light also around, so there should not be such strong light reflections in the gunsight. No reflection in this one http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Blem3FlkaMc . A very light whitish glare on the whole gunsight could be realistic, but no more imo.
-Not practical: in the current state (see pics 2 and 3) it will distract aim, when camouflaged targets are already very difficult to follow against greenish land textures.
Thanks for reading my objections, the whole cockpit looks fantastic nonetheless 8)
Thanks Thirdeye!
RollnLoop, I was thinking the sun in "the simulator" would cast a rather big highlight (similar to a flash, but from the other way round) on the gunsite's lens and reflect that onto the glass surface that acts like a "transparent mirror" But I agree, it might look too much like a flash reflection.
And only using 1/4th of a 1024 texture It feels a bit too much. I tried it a bit more last night and it was a bit more in the way this time BBL with updatezorz
