Unfortunately I have to agree,
Technically the lense light collimation effect is directional. The texture is not moveable and all the pics show a favourable light angle. If it is to work at all in all aspects, I would think it should be aligned vertically, and be faded to be so very subtle. Unfortunately the game engine is not up to the high expectations.
Still looks damned good tho!
Can we make that an optional on the install.

Hmmm, now if it were linked to the instrument heading band class for direction changes, where the light focus would be North?
