I think that's a very reasonable suggestion, Leigh. Those who want critique can simply post "C&C" along with their image. Good thinking, M8
OK, Willy! If that's what you want then that's what you'll get, lol :!:
"Critique" and "being critical" are two different things. I don't want to be "critical" of somone else's work. If someone makes it known that they want comments on how they might improve an image, I'll offer suggestions for their consideration. The emphasis is on things which can be experimented with rather on finding fault with what's already there. It's the difference between saying that an image is too high in contrast versus saying that the author might try lowering the contrast to see if that look appeals to him. Why am I mentioning this?
First of all because I know from experience that "critique" can very quickly deteriorate into fault finding. Identifying faults is not the point! Offering suggestions for things which the author can actually implement is the point!
Secondly, the last thing I would ever want to do would be to nip the author's creativity and style in the bud! We each have different ways of approaching things and different tastes, thank God! Otherwise we would all be making the same kinds of images all the time! I want to be careful not to stomp on someone's natural inclinations. The point for me would be to try to help them to go their own way rather then telling them the way to go.
