I ran into this problem when I started putting a bombing mission together. The flight can easily run to an hour or more, and for a game its a bit wearing on the patience. The alternative was to cut the flight short by design and present only what happened near the target area, but... As I've tested the mission, there have been instances of high drama on the return. One bomber, engine out and still losing power, desperately skipping the waves in a brave but ultimately ill-fated attempt to return to britian, or perhaps the Fw190 that chased the bomber stream all the way to Dover only to be shot down by a very accurate AI rear gunner. If I had deliberately shortened the mission, those events wouldn't have been seen. I suppose at the end of the day you either grin and bear it or play another mission. Its a game, its meant to be fun, and everyone has a limit to the realism they can tolerate.
