[WIP] Panzerknacker Afrika - New Hs129 Campaign
#1

I have started work on a campaign for the Henschel 129B, set in North Africa, and using the WONDERFUL new map of the Mediterranean.

In November 1942 4/Sch.G. 2 (12 aircraft) was sent to Libya, as Luftwaffe reinforcements after the battle of El Alamein. The Staffel was under the command of Captain Bruno Mayer, a Knight Cross carrier and experienced ground atack pilot.

The first combat sortie was flown on November 17, against a British armoured column: two vehicles was knocked out, and the appearance of this new, gun-toting aircraft caused a bit of a panic among the Brits.

But stiffening fighter opposition, lack of spares and - not least - the desert sand, soon proved too much for 4/Sch.G. 2. In January 1943 they had only one serviceable HS 129 left.

The HS 129 is sluggish and tricky to fly, but the firepower is amazing...
