This is not just about the friggin AI gunners, and nobody stated that they have to be made into dummies either..
I have a large aviaton library, it states in many, many first hand accounts, in particular during the early forties, that the way to down bombers was to get in close from behind, wait till it fills your sight before opening fire.. as the war progressed it did get more difficult as bombers defensive weapons were made larger calibres and more armour protection was implimented.
another thing you are forgetting is the AI gunners ability to shoot through its own airframe while keeping a bead on you.. don't tell me that just like real life?!!
we all have an opinion of course..
