2) I disagee with that point however, I've found that with the A-3 and all the other A's. That if you enter into a sustained turning fight with any fighter that if you cut throttle to a max 0f 90-95% in order not to lose too much speed, disengae EN (when applicable) and engage combat flaps. I haven't any problems with closing it in.
Another maneuver that can cut the circle is to climb slightly roll into the circle center(45 degrees or even more, 120) and dive towards the center gaining speed. You can approach your enemy at 90 degrees and if he's not looking, zap him with a cross cut shot. In any case even if you miss you got him startled , so you roll over his back, and on his tail inverted and if you haven't lost too much energy you should be closer on his tail. to try again. Careful with this last maneuver at 100 m and with a full tank. It can turn out totally self defeating.
