The only step I don't see is that you said you took the original image at 1024*768. Later, you increased the image to 3000*2000. But... Don't you loss a lot of quality and sharp doing that? I have downloaded your high res pic and I can't believe that image was initially taken at 1024*768... hock:

I do the contrary: I take my shots at the maximum size I can (1920*1200). Later, I reduce the image. Usually, you get sharpness etc. But my results are far from the yours...
