SUSPENSION MOD?
#27

I would say it does. Land at too high a speed and you float down the runway just like real life. Flight models in simulations are always a bit subjective, and as a former pilot, I 've had many things to say about them. MFS for instance is not "As Real As It Gets". The great thing about IL2 is that whilst it tends toward to arcade end of flight models it does actually give you a modicum of reality, and achieves the difficult end of giving you the sensation that you're handling a balls out state-of-the-art 40's aeroplane. That in my view is a tremendous success, whatever gripes you might have about the FM. In any case, many people want changes to suit their skill level or preferences. The reality would suprise them.

Thats why I speak against some mod ideas. Its certainly not that I want to spoil peoples fun (No, way, the whole point is to enjoy the game). With this suspension mod, it takes away the realism of how hard and resilient aircraft undercarriages are. Aircraft (especially in this period) do bounce back into the air if you come down hard, or collapse entirely if you arrive that little bit harder. You really do need to fly it well, not rely on technology to solve it for you. Further, a soft suspension will inevitably have a longer travel, which greatly increases the risk of a propellor strike. That won't just bend your propellor, it'll wreck your engine too.
