Well, the only thing that I did to find out when I got no sound for some aircraft was : when flying , pushing both SHIFT and TAB keys to see game console where I could read which engine wav. sounds files game can't open and then I looked in to my sample folder , when some were missing , I used also some other mods engine wav. files that I liked to get those files and pasted them in my sample folder .
It's hard to tell which preset files are read by my my current " Buttons " file unless doing more homework , so by getting in to games console , it will tell you what it needs or what is missing in order for you to fix the problem and can finally hear the troublesome sounds .
Since we can't get in to buttons file , it's a little bit frustrating task but game console is very helpful in finding quickly as possible what is the problem with any missing planes engine sounds.
Tweaking my engine sound files was a rollercoaster , and I even found sometimes that while I had outside cockpit sound files I was missing those inside due to my tinkering and a lot of sound files replacing .
If console sound error is asking for specific engine sound file , just make sure you have the specific engine sound file in your sample folder or rename any new files that you've got , to match and to be exactly the same name of the sound wav. file that you see in your game console .
example DB605 wav. or db605 wav. , at least my game console showed error if all DB605 wav. files were not named exactly the same , it have to match names inside preset file .
Got all sort it out
Sincerely,
