That is why in the book about 'Pappy' Greg Boyington he made a joke about the RAF Buffalo fighters at Mingladon, saying that they would take-off away from the direction the Jap bombers were coming, implying they were avoiding action, when in fact they had to do that to gain height before coming back towards the enemy. It works that way on my Thai map and the WIP Burma one too.....
