[BETA] P-51 B/C COCKPIT REPAINT UPDATED 21/12
#19

Hi Bolox

By 1945 the Mk II Gyro gunsight appears to have been in widespread use in Fighter Command's 11 and 14 Group Mustang IIIs. I have most of the FC Mustang III combat reports for the period July '44 to VE-Day and by early 1945 use of the GGS is more often noted than not. I also have several photos of the GGS installed. So far I have direct evidence of GGS use for 19, 64, 65, 122, 126, 309, 315, and 316 squadrons. Let me know if you'd like a copy of any of the documentation.

I'd love to see an accurate +25 lbs boost gauge for the mk III, but I it makes sense that it would adversely affect the P-51C pit. Oleg told me that he was going to leave the MAP gauge as is when he decided to go ahead with the Mustang III but he didn't say it was because it would apply to the C pit, as well. Unfortunately, as implemented, it jumps directly from 61" Hg at 100% throttle to 70" anywhere from 101-110%. Why 70", I don't know as that's only around +19 lbs boost.

Thanks again for your excellent work! I'm thrilled to see the B/C/III getting some TLC!

Brent

25lb boost gauge is possible (again as a field mod) but as it uses the c pit would affect that. i might do that as a private project tho- visual only- have to check on line up of scales-i think one of the many 25lb raf gauges should line up reasonably.
