...Now, the stock Desert Online map still gives me snow. Do I need to use the .sfs extractor to get at that load.ini or is there another way to change the month? I'm betting it's something other than '6'.

Well I fixed that too. The "Desert" folder in MODS/MAPMODS had "3" set as the month and by changing it to "6" I now get rain on the Online Desert map.
These fixes may not hold true in the un-modded game. I haven't checked that yet but since I rarely fly the un-modded game anymore I don't think it will be a big deal for me.

Further snooping at load.ini files showed that most of Mod desert maps already have the month equaling "6" so all is good there.
