I always wondered if it would be possible to change the colour of the smoke itself. Black smoke usually would be generated by a heavy fire, connected to stuff like oil or fuel burning, but as we can see from the real guncamera videos that you posted most of the time is a greyish smoke pouring out.. To be honest I never enjoyed the thick black smoke effect, finding it only realistic for heavy engine fires.
I know it's a bit off topic here, but since we're talking about fire: would it be possible to apply a DM to external fuel tanks and weapons/bombs? Being hit there would surely cause a helluva flamin and smokin
