I'm guessing that the Mustang III was not fitted with a K-14 at the factory. North American did not make any non-bubbletop P-51s once they switched to production of the D models. The K-14 was not introduced (at the factory) until the D-10 production block. It is possible that the RAF production was fitted with a British gun sight, but I doubt that it would have been anything equivalent to the K-14 or any other gyro sight.

I've asked some other people with very detailed Mustang knowledge about this and will report back when I get an answer.

IIRC, I don't believe that the K-14 was installed at the factory until the D-25. Every K-14 in use by 8th AAF Mustangs from July '44 til the last few weeks of the war were installed in-theater either at the unit, or at depot level.

It appears that Martin confirms that ADGB/Fighter Command Mustang III's were fitted with MK II GGSs in the same manner.
