Has anyone ever considered making a Martin Mariner or are we all set with the PBY?

Dear Mr. Confusedhock:

This is in reply to your e-mail request of January 27, regarding the
Martin PBM-5 and PBM-3 Mariner. The request was received in this office
on January 29.

Among the records of the Bureau of Aeronautics, Record Group 72, are
engineering plans of most U.S. Navy aircraft constructed from about 1917
to 1962. Because these plans are still being processed, they are not
all currently available for research. We have identified a great many
plans relating to the PBM-5 and PBM-3. These include paper plans and
microfilm images. These plans are not available online. Plans for the
PBM-5 appear of 24 microfilm reels, while those of the PBM-3 are on 28
microfilm reels.

Copy prices depend upon the size of the original record and the type of
copy sought (electrostatic, photographic, scanned, etc.) The least
expensive copy of an average-sized paper map or plan generally runs
$20.00 or more. Reproductions of microfilm reels will cost $65 per
reel.

Many aircraft manufacturers continue to claim proprietary rights on the
plans for their aircraft that are among our holdings. Therefore, you
will need to obtain written approval from the company before we can
provide you with copies. For this purpose, we suggest you contact:
Lockheed Martin Corp., 6801 Rockledge Drive, Attn: Patrick Hogan,
Bethesda, MD 20817. We will need the original letterhead permission
letter for our files (not a copy). Once this is received, we will
provide you with specific information for ordering reproductions.

Sincerely,
